(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Yuba County Sheriff’s office reports that after receiving numerous complaints from neighbors in Plumas Lake, deputies and the Animal Care Services team responded to a residence in the 1300 block of Sundance Drive. There, they found a heart-breaking cat hoarding house, with an estimated 160 live cats and 46 dead. Most are described in a press release as “scared of humans and running away.”
The home owner is not being publicly identified at this time, but told officials “she owns a feral cat rescue.”
The release notes “it will take days before the house is completely rid of felines.”
Potential charges will be filed once the investigation concludes. Yuba County Animal Care Services is seeking donations to assist with necessary medical treatment. If you’d like to help, please contact them.
