(Sacramento, CA) – A couple of bills authored by our Representative in the State Assembly, James Gallagher, in cooperation with Sutter and Butte County officials, have been signed into law. The bills are described as “another open door for rural fire suppression and medical response services” according to a media release from the county.
Assembly Bills 570 puts 3rd district rural fire districts “on equal footing when it comes to applying for grant funds” from the state office of emergency Services, “to help keep rural fire districts afloat.”
AB 556 provides additional funding for Camp Fire survivor recovery, allowing people affected by that fire to avoid property tax increases by transferring the assessed value of their previous home when rebuilding or purchasing new property.
