(Yuba-Sutter, CA) — A former administrator at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Yuba City has been sentenced to five years in prison for embezzlement. Thirty-eight-year-old Chanell Easton, who now lives in Oklahoma City, was sentenced on Tuesday after stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the church. Easton previously pleaded guilty to 22 counts of wire fraud and was convicted of two counts of aggravated identity theft.
Prosecutors say she used the church’s credit cards to buy VIP concert tickets, vacation rentals, hair services and more. She then paid off the credit card balances with the church’s money.
