(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The area’s first wildfire of the season has forced mandatory evacuations in the Smartsville area. The Sicard Fire was sparked at around 3:00 yesterday afternoon along Sicard Flat Road & Wondering Way, north of HWY 20 between Smartsville and Browns Valley.

By 3:15, mandatory evacuations were ordered in zone E065 with evacuation warnings in E066.

Cal Fire’s latest update issued at 8:00 last night reports the Sicard Fire is 60% contained at 13 acres, with no structures damaged or destroyed, no injuries and mandatory evacuations were still in effect on Frontier, Lonza and Gray with E065 downgraded to an evacuation warning.
