(Roseville, CA) — The first human case of the West Nile Virus has been detected in Placer County. The county’s Mosquito and Vector Control District says a person living in Roseville caught the disease transmitted by mosquitoes.

County health officials are urging people to protect themselves from mosquito bites and wear insect repellent.

Health officials say about one in 150 people infected with West Nile Virus might develop a serious illness.
