(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – 47-year-old Steve Miller has had his first federal court appearance after a grand jury returned a 2 count fraud & identity theft indictment against the Fairfield man late last month, for allegedly using another person’s social security numbers to successfully complete a credit card application. Miller is accused of then using that card to purchase a $75,000 car at a Yuba City vehicle dealership.
Charges were brought following a joint investigation by the Fairfield, Rocklin and Gridley Police Departments, along with the Solano County Sheriff’s office, CHP and U.S. Secret Service.
Miller faces 30 years in prison and a $1-million fine.
