(Live Oak, CA) – Following an eleven hour standoff in Live Oak, Sutter County Sheriff’s deputies took a shooting suspect into custody and lifted lockdowns, at both, Live Oak High School & Middle School last Friday.

The incident began at around 3:00 in the morning at the Maple Park Apartment Complex, when 39-year-old Cuitlahuac Padilla allegedly fired a shot at a man in a vehicle and missed. He then reportedly barricaded himself into an apartment.

Padilla was recently released from prison and is on parole.

Several non-lethal options were unsuccessful in getting him to surrender, including negotiations, flash bangs and tear gas. At one point, Padilla got into the attic and started a fire which was quickly extinguished.

He was eventually taken into custody without any injuries reported and has his first court appearance tomorrow.
