(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The U.S. Geological Survey reports a 5.5 magnitude earthquake occurred around 1.2 miles south-southwest of the eastern shore of Lake Almanor in Plumas County, near Chester yesterday afternoon at 4:19, 3.6 miles deep. It sent aftershocks in the 2.5 to 3 magnitude range throughout the KUBA listening area.
CHP Yuba-Sutter issued an alert at 4:38 yesterday afternoon reporting the quake knocked out the CHP Chico Dispatch cell phone 911 service for a brief time. Other damage documented so far includes broken plates and bottles at the Plumas Pines Resort on Lake Almanor.
Then, this morning at 3:18, the USGS reported a 5.2 quake in the same area, that also included small aftershocks locally.
