(Sacramento, CA) — Sacramento County is seeing a summer surge in COVID cases. The CDC says nearly 18 percent of COVID tests taken in California within the past week came back positive. Sacramento County has seen a two-point-three-percent positivity rate increase during that same time.
Sacramento County Public Health Officer Doctor Olivia Kasirye says the numbers are approaching what they were at this time last year. High levels of COVID are also being detected in California’s wastewater. Summer surges like this one are often blamed on increased travel.
