(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – Good news and bad news for Marysville Stampede fans.

The good news is that a dedication ceremony and celebration honoring the late rodeo legend Cotton Rosser will take place next month as the bronze monument created of the “King of the Cowboys” is unveiled at Washington Square Park in Marysville.

According to The Appeal-Democrat, Rosser, considered by many to be a hometown hero, passed away on July 22, 2022, at 93 and is a member of the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. At 6 p.m. on Sept. 11, Rosser’s statue will be unveiled to coincide with the annual Marysville Stampede rodeo.

The bad news is that the annual cattle drive tradition that normally helps kick off the stampede was canceled this year because organizers did not want to add to any existing traffic congestion or conditions caused by the recent Hotel Marysville fire. It is expected to return.
