(Butte County, CA) — Dozens of mountain communities are being evacuated as the Park Fire continues to rage out of control in Butte and Tehama counties. Remote communities have had to pack up and flee as the Park Fire rages just outside of Chico.
The blaze has scorched more than 71-thousand acres of land and there are dry grasslands and fuel feeding the fire.
Cal Fire and Butte County District Attorney Investigators have taken a 42-year-old man from Chico into custody Thursday morning. Authorities say the suspect allegedly pushed a burning car into a gully Wednesday afternoon, causing flames to spread rapidly. He’s being held in Butte County Jail without bail until his arraignment on Monday.
