(CHP Yuba-Sutter release) – The Governor’s Office has declared a State of Emergency for this storm system. PG&E has several out of state crews and Edison crews on the way to assist with what is most likely going to be a mess.

This calm in this current storm is deceiving. The bulk of the rain is coming in this evening and should hit our area a little after 5pm. The ground is already saturated with water and the winds gusts are expected to be 40-50 MPH this evening. Trees will come down and power will go out in communities through our area.

Please ensure your household has the proper supplies in the event the power goes out. You should have at least,
-Water
-Food
-Batteries
-Lighting
-A way to stay warm that does not include carbon monoxide producing heat. (Dress in layers and sleeping bags work.)
-Be a kind person and check on your neighbors, especially the elderly and handicapped ones to see if they are OK if the power goes out.

The Governor’s Office and the California Highway Patrol are encouraging people NOT to travel unless absolutely necessary.

Driving tips (if absolutely necessary)
-Ensure windshield wiper blades are in good condition
-Do not out-drive your headlights at night. Meaning, drive at a speed that is slow enough for you to fully stop for a road hazard like flooding or downed trees. Driving slow enough for the conditions may and often requires driving slower than the posted speed limit!
-Do not drive through standing water. Water may be moving underneath the surface and can pull your vehicle off the road.
-Do not attempt do drive over or move downed power lines.
