(Yuba-Sutter, CA) — Following yet another big-rig being trapped beneath a Marysville train trestle on B Street last week, calls once again are going out to modify that bridge, and/or roadway, to prevent further accidents.
Fox40 reports Caltrans District 3 officials say a project is “in the development stages but it will be some years before construction begins.” For now, Caltrans has put in place signs, warning drivers of the low clearance, however, as was the case last week, those signs often go unnoticed. Other plans include in adding additional lanes.
The trestle along B Street is currently at 13 feet 10 incehes on the northbound side, and 14 feet 1 inch southbound. The national standard, according to the TV station, is 13 feet 6 inches.
Construction to modify the bridge by Caltrans is not expected to begin until the winter of 2025.
