(South Lake Tahoe, CA) — California’s snowpack is now believed to be the state’s largest on record. Right now, the Southern Sierra snowpack is at 297-percent of its yearly average, and at its highest level in recorded history.

The Northern Sierra snowpack is at 190-percent of its historical average, while the Central Sierra snowpack is at 233-percent of its historical average. The old record was set 40 years ago, between the winter of 1982 and spring of 1983.
