(Sacramento, CA) — Public schools around California will be required to have gender-neutral bathrooms by 2026. Governor Newsom signed a bill this past weekend that makes California the first state in the nation to require gender-neutral bathrooms at schools statewide.
Under the new law, schools have until July 2026 to have gender-neutral bathrooms on campus.
The legislation was among several bills aimed at helping LGBTQ+ children and teens around California.
