(Sacramento, CA) — California is bracing for the first heat wave of the year. And it’s coming earlier than usual. Temperatures are on track to soar ten to 15 degrees above normal next week, from Wednesday through Friday in the Sacramento Valley, including the Yuba-Sutter area.
National Weather Service meteorologists say a system of high pressure is coming from the Pacific – mainly from the tropics – and moving into the West Coast. The Climate Prediction Center expects the Central Valley to reach triple digits with some areas hitting 108. After that, a storm could trigger thunderstorms in the southern part of the state, increasing the chance for wildfires.
