(Selma, CA) — An accused cop killer in Central California is due in court today. Police say the 23-year-old shot Officer Gonzalo Carrasco Junior as he was on patrol in a small city near Fresno. A woman had flagged him down about a suspicious person in her yard. That man allegedly opened fire as the officer got out of his car. He has a criminal record and was wanted for violating probation.
The county’s district attorney blames a state law for his early release.
