(Davis, CA) — California Governor Gavin Newsom is reacting to a New York appellate court overturning former Hollywood Producer Harvey Weinstein’s conviction for sex crimes. Newsom, whose wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, is among the women in Los Angeles who testified that Weinstein sexually assaulted them, said he can’t speak to the legal specifics of the ruling.

The New York Court of Appeals ruled Weinstein did not receive a fair trial. Weinstein was also sentenced in Los Angeles early last year to 16 years in prison after he was convicted of rape. That conviction still stands.
