(Butte County, CA) – Butte County’s Mosquito & Vector Control District is reporting its first West Nile virus detection of the year: A dead bird in Durham that has tested positive.

West Nile virus has been detected in Butte County each year now, for twenty years in a row, with a total of 287 human infections since 2004. Ten of those infected died.

Health officials throughout the KUBA listening area encourage you to report any dead bird that you may encounter.
