(Oroville, CA) — Eastern Butte County and southwestern Plumas County saw a rare tornado warning on Monday. The warning lasted less than an hour and expired at 4:30 p.m.

At about 3:40 p.m., the National Weather Service announced there was a thunderstorm detected near Oroville Dam that could produce a tornado. But, it doesn’t appear that it ever did.

The tornado warning impacted more than a dozen areas, including Oroville, Belden, East Quincy and Meadow Valley.
