(Butte County, CA) – In Butte County Court, 39-year-old Travis McCarty was arraigned yesterday on charges of the attempted murder of a peace officer, assault with a semi-automatic forearm on peace officers and manufacturing, assembly & possessing a ghost gun.
McCarty was arrested for allegedly violating a restraining order filed by his estranged wife, when she and the couple’s child were living in Paradise. Two deputies were waiting for McCarty when he arrived, at which time he immediately opened fire, narrowly missing a deputy and K9 inside the patrol vehicle. Deputies returned fire, hitting and wounding McCarty in the leg.
He was arrested after hospital treatment and is being held without bail.
