(San Francisco, CA) – A Brownsville man is charged with eight counts of attempted murder for what the San Francisco D.A. tells the Chronicle was a “violent & unprovoked attack on pedestrians Sunday, September 1st.” 42-year-old Carl Sheldone is also charged with seven counts of assault with a deadly weapon, his vehicle.

It was around 7:18 in the morning, a week ago yesterday, when Sheldone allegedly ran over a person walking their dog through a crosswalk of Haight Street, drove head-on into oncoming traffic and physically assaulted a person at a nearby bust stop. He also allegedly asked a woman on the sidewalk to take off her clothes, then stabbed her husband when he confronted Sheldone. Then, at around 9:00 that same morning, he allegedly ran over a 70-year-old pedestrian crossing Van Ness Avenue.

Sheldone was taken into custody at around 10:10, after climbing a tree in the Castro neighborhood.
