(San Francisco, CA) — California wants to become the first state in the nation to recognize August as Transgender History Month. The California State Assembly voted to recognize August as Transgender History Month through a resolution starting next year. Bill author Matt Haney of San Francisco says telling the truth about transgender people and their lives is the “strongest defense against the anti-trans agenda.”

This comes as transgender parent notification policies are being passed in school boards throughout the state. The policy would notify parents when their child says they want to identify as a gender that is different from the one assigned to them at birth.
