(Butte County, CA) – Cal Fire’s law enforcement unit reports an arson arrest in Palermo.

Crews were dispatched a week ago today to a vegetation fire in the 6600 block of Lincoln Boulevard, containing it within an hour at .17 acres. Video reportedly shows 39-year-old Joe Patrick Gilbert Jr., recognized & identified by the Butte County Sheriff’s office, setting fire to the grass. He was apprehended and arrested Saturday.

Gilbert Jr. is a five time convicted felon, including grand theft, burglary, possession of a dirk or dagger and obtaining a controlled substance by fraud.
