(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – CHP Yuba-Sutter reports alcohol is believed to be a factor in a fatal van vs big-rig collision late last Thursday night, just before 11:00, when a 39-year-old Yuba City man, in a 2017 Dodge Caravan was driving south on 99 approaching 113 “at a high rate of speed.” He then veered directly into the path of a big-rig.

An off duty CHP officer drove upon the scene and pronounced the Yuba City man deceased.

The big-rig driver, 38-year-old Efren Huerta complained of pain, but declined medical treatment.

The name of the deceased is currently withheld, “until proper notifications are made.”
