(Sacramento, CA) — It’s been more than two weeks since California began counting Election Day votes, and about 620-thousand ballots are still unprocessed. Some counties, like Lake and Mendocino, have large batches yet to report. In the Bay Area, Alameda County has improved and now counts just over 97-percent of its votes.
Overall, all Bay Area counties have surpassed the state average of 96-percent processed ballots. Sacramento County has just over 60-thousand left to be counted.
Election officials say, so far, voter turnout in California this year is lower than in the 2020 election.
