(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – One of Yuba City’s half-a-dozen Starbucks stores has reportedly voted to unionize. According to Fox 40 in Sacramento, at the Starbucks on Colusa Highway near Stabler, next to River Valley Community Bank in the Grocery Outlet Shopping Center, 12 of the 25 employees who were eligible to vote, were in favor of joining Workers United, with 5 against it. However, there is no word if the remaining 8 abstained from voting.
The vote was taken last Friday, citing filings with the National Labor Relations Board and Fox 40 quotes an employee as well as a Starbucks spokesperson, who says in part “we respect our partners decision at our HWY 20 & Tharp store in Yuba City,” although, there is no Starbucks at that location.
