(Lake Elsinore, CA) — Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park in California has permanently closed following the death of a young girl in June. The park announced on Facebook that the property owner terminated their agreement due to a lawsuit, though USA Today found no records of a filed suit. City officials said the property was sold, and the new owner requested the motocross track license be ended.

The incident involved Brooke Carlton, who was struck by another juvenile on a motorbike. Despite attempts to save her, she died at a nearby hospital. The park expressed sorrow over the tragedy, calling it a “freak accident.”
