(Sacramento, CA) — A Northern California county is set to issue citations to homeless people for camping. Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies and park rangers will soon be able to remove homeless people from public spaces without first offering shelter.

The Board of Supervisors has expanded a previous camping ban along the American River Parkway to all public areas in the county, including public buildings. The new rule also includes not only tents and huts but also vehicles and trailers as types of camps.

Deputies and park rangers will be able to issue misdemeanors after giving a warning.
