(Sacramento, CA) — An 81-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with a 1980 murder in South Sacramento. Police say DNA evidence linked Robert Lee Terry to the stabbing, which left Helen Terry dead in her apartment while her one-year-old son was found unharmed.

Terry, who was involved in a paternity dispute with the victim, was identified through DNA analysis after the case was reopened in 2016. New evidence from the district attorney’s cold case unit led to his arrest.

Terry faces a murder charge and is being held without bail.
