(Sacramento, CA) — The City of Sacramento is developing a pilot program for cannabis consumption lounges. California has authorized cannabis cafes, allowing dispensaries to expand under a bill signed by Governor Gavin Newsom.

The law permits cities and counties to establish cannabis consumption lounges. Type 1 lounges can serve cannabis-infused drinks and edibles, while Type 2 lounges can allow smoking products and must have specific ventilation systems.

An impaired driving prevention plan is also required.

The pilot program is pending approval, with Sacramento scheduled to discuss it on October 22nd.
