(Oakland, CA) — The Oakland Athletics played their final game at the Coliseum on Thursday, defeating the Texas Rangers 3-2 in front of nearly 47-thousand fans. The A’s will temporarily relocate to Sacramento for three years while awaiting their move to Las Vegas in 2028.

The game saw some disruptions, including fans throwing a beer bottle, a smoke bomb, and other objects onto the field.

Athletics owner John Fisher, in a letter to fans, expressed his disappointment in not securing a new ballpark in Oakland after 18 years of effort. Despite plans for a stadium at Howard Terminal falling through, the team will soon begin their transition to Las Vegas.

The Oakland stadium will remain in use for the Oakland Roots soccer team.
