(Butte County, CA) – The Oroville man involved in Sunday’s predawn shooting in Paradise that resulted in the death of 21-year-old Tyler Elijah Simmons of Magalia, has been released from custody.

The Butte County D.A. tells Action News that “their investigation into circumstances of the shooting continues.”

The shooting began in the garage of the shooting suspect, 32-year-old Kindall Alan Woodward’s brother’s Paradise residence, and followed “words exchanged between a group associated with Woodward and a group associated with Simmons.”

Specifically, the D.A. says they’re investigating “claims of self defense and defense of home.”
