(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – In its Tuesday meeting, the Yuba City Council endorsed Measure D, a general sales tax measure that will fund crucial public safety and infrastructure initiatives, which will now be on the ballot in November. If approved, it could generate as much as $17.5-million in revenue for Yuba City and Sutter County.
As well, the Yuba City Council approved conversion of 2 city-owned cell tower leases, to a third party firm, which The Appeal-Democrat reports will generate a one-time payment of over $1-million, according to city officials.
A traffic enforcement grant was also approved, authorizing the Yuba City Police Department “to accept a $115,000 grant from the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program,” according to the paper, adding, the money will help fund YCPD DUI checkpoints, distracted driver enforcement and to maintain an “aggressive stance” in dealing with impaired drivers.
The Yuba City Council also addressed school facility rezoning, approving rezoning the “southeast corner of Harter Parkway in order to build a new facility for the Sutter County Superintendent of Schools.” A proposed Sutter County Schools Career Training and Conference Center will total 38,000 square feet and accommodate up to 21 classrooms and 305 students.
