(Butte County, CA) – The Butte County Sheriff’s office reports an inmate will be spending extra time behind bars after allegedly attempting to have meth mailed to him at the jail.

A correctional deputy was scanning incoming mail and located “two suspicious drawings” inside an envelope addressed to the inmate, 25-year-old Marqual Barns. Drug Detection Specialist K9 Discovery was employed and alerted to the possible presence of drugs in the envelope, Further investigation of phone calls implicated 24-year-old Kayla Smith of Chico, conspiring with Barns to mail drugs to him.

The investigation further determined that the suspicious drawings were soaked in meth.
