(Butte County, CA) – A wildfire broke out late yesterday afternoon in Robinson Mill, at Dickerson & Purple Rock Lanes. Cal Fire tanker 93 from the Chico Air Attack Base was first on the scene of the Purple Fire, making a retardant drop ahead of the blaze. That significantly slowed the spread of the blaze.
At the same time, ground crews made access on very rough roads, according to the incident fact sheet. The first engine on the scene requested additional resources as the fire showed great potential for growth.
Although one structure and multiple vehicles were burned, crews quickly got hose and dozer lines around the fire and stopped the forward spread in less than 2.5 hours, at 10 acres. No injuries reported.
