(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The City of Marysville’s attorney and the attorney for owners of the Hotel Marysville faced off in court last Friday, as the city seeks a warrant allowing them access to the building. The city wants to begin demolition and asbestos abatement, and has asked the judge specifically to declare an emergency, for both the building’s compromised structural integrity and the presense of asbestos.

The L.A. attorney representing the owners was not physically present, but attending virtually, according to The Appeal-Democrat, reportedly prompting the judge to comment at one point that he “wasn’t the one having to deal with the potential hazard.”

The judge gave no timeline for a ruling but reportedly did comment “there is an emergency here.”
