(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – In Yuba County Court yesterday, a jury found 37-year-old Justin Clayton of Meridian guilty of felony grand theft for stealing over $950 worth of copper wire, according to a release from the Yuba County DA’s office.
Clayton and two other men were caught in March of last year inside the North Beale Mini Storage facility, stripping telephone cable. AT&T staff identified the cable as the 900 foot section cut down from utility poles along North Beale Road.
Clayton and the two others, Donald Anderson and Christopher Donovan, were caught after a citizen called the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department with a tip. Anderson has already been sentenced to 2-years in jail, Donovan to 199 days and probation. Clayton is scheduled for sentencing August 12th. He faces a maximum of three years.
