(Placer County, CA) — The Royal Fire has now burned 201 acres of land in the Tahoe National Forest, with no containment. The fire started late Sunday afternoon and is believed to be the result of an escaped campfire later found by hikers.
An evacuation warning remains in place for five homes on Soda Springs Road and some recreation areas have also been evacuated.
A group of 13 hikers reported missing within the fire zone was found safe after a brief search on Monday morning.
