(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Sutter-Yuba Mosquito and Vector Control District reports Yuba County’s first West Nile virus detection of the year: A mosquito sample collected in the east Marysville area, according to a an announcement on their Facebook page.

To date, officials report no detection of West Nile virus in dead birds, sentinel chicken flocks or humans so far this year. However, the announcement notes our recent well above average temperatures are ‘hastening mosquito production.”
