(Oroville, CA) — An excessive heat warning remains in effect through Sunday across the valley and red flag warnings continue through this afternoon in the Yuba-Sutter area and Sacramento County.

Meanwhile, wildfires are prompting evacuations in El Dorado and Butte Counties. The fast-moving Thompson Fire near Oroville in Butte County led to the evacuation of some 13-thousand residents from their homes. At last report, the Thompson Fire is currently 3002 acres. Butte County has setup evacuation centers at the Nazarene church in Oroville and the Butte County Fairgrounds in Gridley.

The city of Oroville declared a local emergency because of the fire.

In El Dorado County, the Moccasin Fire near Placerville that broke out yesterday had spread to more than 50 acres by last night
