(Foresthill, CA) — The California Department of Fish and Wildlife is investigating after a bear carcass was desecrated in Foresthill. The dead bear, which was hit by a car on Saturday, was found on Sunday morning with all four of its paws cut off and stolen. If caught, the person or people responsible are facing up to a year in jail and a thousand-dollar fine.
The Bear League says some people sell bear paws, make expensive soup out of them, make ashtrays out of them, or keep them as a souvenir.
