(Wheatland, CA) – The Wheatland Police Department reports two arrests after an officer responded to a report of a woman being assaulted at the Bear Ridge Apartments, located at 1969 Spenceville Road.
The officer witnessed the assault in progress and one of the suspects then physically attacked the officer, before both suspects fled on foot. With the assistance of the Yuba County Sheriff’s office, a perimeter was established. One suspect was found, while the other managed to escape briefly. However, that suspect was tracked to Sacramento, arrested and booked into the Yuba County Jail.
A Wheatland Police press release does not provide the suspect’s names, nor whether the responding officer sustained any injuries. However, it does report that the assault victim was taken to the hospital for injuries, and thanks to YCSO, CHP Yuba-Sutter and the Sacramento Police Department for their assistance.
