(Big Sur, CA) — Major progress to report on the collapse of a famous California road. A huge chunk of Highway One fell down a cliff and into the ocean on Easter weekend during heavy rain.
Both directions have been closed since near Big Sur but now there’s a reopening date. Caltrans expects to have cars moving on the side that isn’t damaged by Memorial Day weekend.
A signal will be installed to allow traffic to alternate while crews start work on the next phase of repairs.
