(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – We’re now four days into Distracted Driving Awareness Month and Marysville Police Chief Christian Sachs has issued a release, informing the public that officers “will be actively looking for drivers throughout the month who are in violation of ours state’s hands-free-cell-phone law,” adding that even a moment of inattention or a quick glance at a phone can lead to serious consequences.
The release notes that in 2021 there were “at least” 140 people killed in distracted driving collisions in California alone, and “the numbers are likely under-reported” as those involved are often not forthcoming, or even aware that distraction was a factor, and that evidence of distraction as a factor is exceedingly difficult to determine.
