(Butte County, CA) – The Butte County Sheriff’s office reports the arrest of a Gridley man on suspicion of the murder of his mother.

Deputies and paramedics responded to a medical call early Monday evening in the 300 block of Obermeyer Avenue, where a 55-year-old Veronica Avalosdecardenas was declared deceased at the scene. Evidence led to her son, 32-year-old Hugo Cardenas as the murder suspect.

Later that night, he was tracked and arrested in Stockton.
