(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Sutter County Sheriff’s office reports two arrests following a 100 mph pursuit.

The incident began around 10:00 Sunday night, as deputies were monitoring traffic in South Yuba City, at Railroad Avenue & Stewart Road. There, a silver Infinity “blew through the stop-sign at about 100 mph” according to a press release. Deputies gave chase as the vehicle raced east on Bogue to Garden Highway north, “at a consistent speed of roughly 100 mph,” losing control at Epley Drive, colliding with a power-pole & bus stop, bursting into flames.

The driver, 24-year-old Jonathan Rangel Ramirez and the passenger was identified as 29-year-old Guillermo Figueroa, both out of Yuba City, were rescued.

As well, both were highly intoxicated according to the release and alcohol was found inside the vehicle.

Ramirez was taken to U.C. Davis Medical Center and Figueroa to the Sutter County Jail.

The SCSO adds in their release “It is believed this vehicle is a result of Street Racing and Sideshows. At this time the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office and the Yuba City Police Department would like to make a statement regarding Street Racing and Sideshows. We have found this to be problematic in our area, these types of events pose a danger to our community and should be reported to local law enforcement.”
