(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – At their meeting last week, the Yuba Community College District Board voted unanimously to abolish its police department, in favor of a private security company.
This comes after an assessment by the Tactical Training Academy over a four day period last September found “serious security risks and gaps” and that “the current district safety program fails to offer adequate safety measures, generate trust & confidence, it is dysfunctional, ineffective and inefficient” according to The Appeal-Democrat.
The assessment concludes, quoting officials, “These concerns are compounded by local law enforcement’s reluctance and refusal to respond because the district maintains a commissioned police department.”
