(Yuba-Sutter, CA) – The Sutter County Sheriff’s office has taken to You Tube to provide an update of the investigation into a use of force incident, last September 9th, on HWY 99 in Live Oak.
A deputy responded to a 911 call and encountered a man under the influence of narcotics and uncooperative. The deputy attempted to deescalate the situation with 27-year-old Brandon Fields without success and radioed for backup. Ultimately, as Fields became increasingly combative, one deputy deployed his taser and a second “punched the suspect multiple times in the head in an attempt to gain compliance.”
Compliance was ultimately accomplished and the sheriff subsequently requested a D.A. investigation to determine if there was criminal wrong doing on the part of the deputies. The investigation determined there was not.
