(Red Bluff PD release) – On January 24th, officers with the Red Bluff Police Department investigated an armed robbery that occurred around Aloha Street and Deborah Drive. During that investigation, the victim, an 18-year-old man from Anderson, reported he had come to Red Bluff to sell marijuana. The victim explained he had brokered the deal via a social media site. The victim described the suspects entered his vehicle, pointed firearms at him, struck him in the head and face with the firearms, and stole the marijuana and his wallet.

During the investigation, officers positively identified one of the suspect as a 17-year-old juvenile who resided in Red Bluff. An arrest warrant was obtained for the juvenile suspect for robbery and assault with a firearm and a search warrant was obtained for the residence associated with the juvenile suspect.

On the morning of March 8th, 2024, a team consisting of officers from the Red Bluff Police Department, Tehama County Bureau of Investigations, and Tehama County Sheriff Deputies served the arrest warrant and search warrant on the 1200 block of Walnut Street in Red Bluff.

As the team approached the residence, they encountered the juvenile suspect’s mother in a vehicle. She was identified as Hilary Kennon, 37 of Oroville. Upon contact, Hilary was actively smoking methamphetamine. Officers attempted to detain Hilary in handcuffs, and she actively resisted. Hilary was ultimately arrested for resisting arrest and possession of methamphetamine.

Upon entering the residence, officers encountered Brandon Salazar, 37 of Red Bluff. A records check revealed Brandon had an active felony warrant for his arrest. During the search of Brandon’s person incident to arrest, officers located methamphetamine possessed for sale.
The juvenile suspect in this case was also contacted and arrested. Since the suspect is under 18 years of age, his identity will not be disclosed. He was booked into Tehama County Juvenile Hall for robbery and assault with a firearm.

During the search of the residence, officers located numerous items of methamphetamine drug related paraphernalia, bags of methamphetamine, a loaded flare gun converted to shoot .22 long rifle, and an unregistered 12-gauge shotgun.

During the booking process of Hilary Kennon at the Tehama County Correctional Facility, Hilary removed a bag of fentanyl from her undergarments and attempted to swallow it. The felony charge of bringing drugs into a correctional facility was added.
